Oliver Hampel, jewelry artist, in his studio in Naples, Florida

Meet Oliver Hampel

Contemporary jewelry shaped by nature, craftsmanship and technology.

Oliver Hampel is a contemporary jewelry artist known for sculptural designs that combine traditional metalsmithing with modern technology. Born in Hamburg, Germany, Oliver now creates his work from his studio in Naples, Florida.

His jewelry is inspired by the structures and patterns found in nature—from waves, flowers and cellular forms to the repeating geometries of the natural world. These influences are translated into distinctive rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets in sterling silver, 18k gold, gemstones, pearls and unconventional materials such as nylon.

From Traditional Craft to Modern Technology

Oliver's approach brings together hands-on craftsmanship and contemporary design tools. Traditional jewelry techniques are combined with digital design, 3D modeling and modern fabrication methods, allowing him to explore forms and structures that would be difficult—or sometimes impossible—to create using traditional techniques alone.

Technology, however, is a tool rather than the starting point. Each piece begins with an idea about form, movement, texture or the way jewelry interacts with the person wearing it.

The result is jewelry that feels contemporary while retaining the individuality and character of something made by an artist rather than produced anonymously.

Inspired by the Natural World

Nature has always been an important source of ideas in Oliver's work. Rather than reproducing natural objects literally, he looks at the underlying structures that make them compelling: repetition, growth, symmetry, irregularity and movement.

A wave may become the curve of a ring. Cellular structures can develop into lightweight earrings and pendants. Flowers, seedpods and other organic forms can be reduced and transformed into wearable sculpture.

This exploration also extends to materials. Alongside sterling silver and 18k gold, Oliver works with gemstones, pearls and nylon, choosing materials according to what each design requires.

Award-Winning Contemporary Jewelry

Oliver's work has been recognized at juried art festivals throughout the United States, including a Gold Award at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, Best in Show at the Bonita Springs National Art Festival, and First Place in Jewelry at the Saint Louis Art Fair.

These exhibitions have allowed Oliver to present his work directly to collectors and to continue developing jewelry that is distinctive, wearable and unmistakably his own.
